BetVictor is one of the longest-standing bookmakers in the UK. It was founded in 1946 by William Chandler. Mr. Chandler was the owner of Walthamstow Stadium, a Greyhound race track, but one day, he decided he wanted to give the bookmaking world a try, and so he did, becoming one of the first bookmakers in the UK. Eventually he passed the business on to his son, Victor Chandler, who later on, would again pass the business on to his own son, Victor Chandler Jr.

In the year 1998, with Victor Chandler Jr. in charge, the company moved to Gibraltar to avoid UK’s high taxes on bookmaking, where it remains as today.

BetVictor has changed its name twice since its foundation. It was formerly known as Victor Chandler, and as VCBet before that.

The company was run by the Chandler family until May 2014 when Michael Tabor, a stockholder in the firm, decided to purchase the whole company.

In the year 2015, BetVictor became the sponsor for one of the most famous teams in the Premier League, Chelsea FC. Some important changes where made that year as well, such as the inclusion of a cashout feature and an In-play service.

In 2016, and in coincidence with the UEFA EURO in France, they released the ‘Million Pound Goal’ campaign, which had a big impact in the community as it gave you the chance to win £1,000,000.

Odds, minimum bets and maximum payouts

One of the reasons BetVictor has so many fans, is the odds. This bookie offers the best odds for some of the best football competitions like Premier League, Championship, FA Cup, Champions League, Europa League... in both pre-match and In-Play. BetVictor is one of the few bookmakers that allows you to choose between 5 odd formats: Decimal, Fraction, American, Indo and Chinese.

Minimum bets and maximum daily payouts are pretty average. The minimum bet is £0,05.

Maximum payouts depend on the sport and the importance of the selected competition. For instance, in football, the limit is £500,000 if you bet on the main European leagues, as well as the Champions League and the Europa League. If you bet on secondary leagues like Scottish, Australian, Belgian, Austrian, Swiss, Norwegian, Danish, Swedish... the limit is £100,000.

This is one of their flaws. BetVictor includes live streaming options, but only for horse races in the UK and Ireland. This is something they ought to improve if they don’t want to lose ground.
